Influences
Francis Dunnery [ www.francisdunnery.com ]
This guy is a legend, he has perhaps helped shape me more than any other musician. I really urge you to check him out and by his CDs. His CD 'Man' is far and away my favourite CD. I was lucky enough to meet Francis back stage at a concert in Oxford, England in 2002 [ Pictured ], unfortunately he was playing guitar for someone else rather then his own material, so I am still to experience that live...one day!
Kiss [ www.kissonline.com ] I grew up listening to KISS as a teenager, actually got into them younger and then rediscovered them later. KISS changed my life, I thought I would never get to se them live, but I have now manager to see them a number of time with and without makeup. They know how to entertain and put on a show.
Snow Patrol [ www.snowpatrol.com ] Snow Patrol are a great band, I would have said they were from Northern Ireland, but using Wikipedia I just found out that they have members from Northern Ireland and Scotland. Originally formed in Dundee, Scotland they now are based in Glasgow. You should check them out.
The Fray [ www.thefray.net ] Check this band out, they originate from the USA, great music, do a cover of the title track from their first album "How to save a life".
David Gray [ www.davidgray.com ] If you don't know David Gray, search him out, I first heard him in Ireland, when I was living there. He had a lot of his early success in building a fan base in Ireland. He is huge in the UK and has had massive success.
The Beatles [ www.thebeatles.com ] Not sure that I need to explain who these guys are, if your from another planet, these guys changed music for ever.....just follow the link.
Simon and Garfunkel [ www.simonandgarfunkel.com ] Once again, not sure I need to say too much, these guy are amazing, great songs, great voices.....spent a holiday in Scotland, listening to them while driving around in a hire car, they hold some great memories.
Musician I have played with
Corey Stewart [ www.coreystewartonline.com ] Corey was one of only 2 people that I saw at an open mic session and thought I don't want to lay after that guy, now maybe that make me a little self confident, but true Corey has an immense voice, as I write this you hear that voice put to the test in The Police cover band 'The Synchronicity Police' Corey was of course part of Soul Trader® almost form the beginning and played a big part in the first CD 'Pre-cursor'. Although Corey left Soul Trader® suddenly and some time ago, we now once again write together and it is still and more so than ever a great partnership.
Brendan Keane (Ireland) [ www.myspace.com/brendankeanemusic ] I met Brendan in Adelaide, Australia in 2001, as Betts-Keane™, we played a small number of shows together in Australia before Brendan returned home to Ireland. In 2002 I moved to Ireland and we continued to perform as Betts-Keane™, supporting some leading Irish Acts include Mary Black and Aslan and performing a major festivals include The Dunbrody Festival in front of a 10,000 strong crowd. Since my return to Australia Brendan has continued to perform support acts include Status Quo.
